"Assess the legitimacy, trustworthiness, and/
or validity of studies of various methods and
methodological designs (e.g. qualitative

EDFI 6420: Research in Education

In the summer of 2016, I took this course online.  Its primary outcome was that students would be able to identify and evaluate research problems, research designs, use of library resources, data gathering, and writing research reports.  During the class, two of the assignments had to do with assessing the validity and trustworthiness of two research documents based only on their methodology.  In my assessment, I provided the limitations and advantages to the approach.  On both assignments, I received 100% of the credit.

Student Surveys, University of Evansville

For several years while I was employed at the University of Evansville, I regularly was asked to spearhead the creation of surveys for students and alumni to assess whether or not the office of residence life was achieving its many outcomes.  Two such examples include:

  1. Creation and implementation of the Student Policy Quiz which was given out during closing floor meetings which created a 90% completion rating, and was digitally accessible using Survey Monkey.

  2. Creation of the Alumni Developmental Assessment in the Summer of 2016.  I worked with the dean of students to create a survey to gauge the self-perceived development from recent alumni based on Chickering, A. W., & Reisser, L. (1993). Education and identity. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass Publishers.
