Talk to our VPSA or Dean of Students about legal concerns for our institution.  What are they seeing? What are we struggling with?

Participate in the 2020 NASPA Certificate Program in Student Affairs Law and Policy​

Read a book on timely legal topics in higher education such as Free Speech on Campus by E. Chemerinsky and H. Gillman

Attend sessions on campus aimed at the faculty for improving teaching if permissible.

 Stay up to date on blogs from the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment such as those written about alignment by P. Hutchings

Ask to teach or co-teach an on-campus course that is aimed at “soft skill” development (ex. study strategies).  If this doesn’t exist on my campus, talk to appropriate stakeholders to determine what initiatives are in place for academically ill-prepared students and offer assistance and support.

Look for a certificate or course that I can take for teaching in college.  This will vary depending on position, but examples include the Association of College and University Educator’s Course in Effective Teaching Practices
